Mr. Mahesh Sharma, Ladies and gentlemen: |
|
After
a very successful conference in Ahmedabad for two days,
and in Surat for two days, we have gathered here today
to celebrate yet another event of “Vibrant Gujarat”.
This is a unique event of sorts. It is meant to remind
us that while we may try to bring in Mega Investment
in the state of Gujarat, that alone is not sufficient.
Gujarat has many more strengths that can be showcased
to the world, and through that the welfare of vast numbers
of our rural artisans can be taken care of. It is an
attempt to provide an international exposure to some
of our hidden strengths such as vegetarianism, Ayurved,
naturopathy, yoga, khadi and village industry, and make
the people acclimatized with the latest in technology,
and modern ways of doing business. I want people to
think global! I want Gujarat to be become Global. If
India has to achieve a growth rate of 8.2% as envisaged
in the 10th five-year plan, then Gujarat would have
to grow at 10.2% per annum. This growth rate is the
highest amongst all the states in the country. |

On
the shores of the sea, where the distant horizon beckons
the entrepreneurial spirit, showing that at a distance,
even the sky can me et the earth. On one such shore
on the west of Gujarat lies the city of Porbandar. It
was 134 years ago, when in this city was born an infant,
who was to change the destiny of this ancient land.
