Do you know – for the first time in the country a sustained and a genuine campaign to arrest power theft was started in Gujarat. 20,25,734 number of connections were checked. More than 1,95,039 cases of theft were detected and penal action was taken. Revenues of Gujarat Electricity Board went up by Rs. 800 crores in comparison to the previous year (Rs. 72 crores per month).
Gujarat the state with the best road connectivity and Rural Electrification (100%) is set to provide round the clock uninterrupted power supply three phase to its villages through a unique Jyoti Gram Scheme.
Gujarat is the Petro Capital of the country. Gas Grid Network of 300 Kms. is now in place benefiting Domestic as well as Industrial consumers. CNG Infrastructure is being provided in all major cities of Gujarat. 120 million tonnes of new petro reserves were discovered. Gas production has increased from 20 lac cubic metres to 32 lacs cubic metres in the current year and is likely to go up to 50 lac cubic metres in the current year.

The State has pioneered State Level Fiscal Reforms. Revenue Deficit is reduced by 50%, State Guarantee burden has come down, cost of Borrowing reduced substantially resulting in savings of more than Rs. 300 crores. There has been a note worthy increase in the States Tax and Non-Tax Revenues. 30 % Increase in Revenue Income during April to September 2003 and 4 % decrease in Revenue Expenditure. Decrease of Rs. 3077 crore in Revenue deficit. Reduction of Rs. 350 crore in Interest burden during the year.
In the last year as per independent studies man days lost due to labour strife are the least in Gujarat in comparison to all other States in the country. The State has the most productive and peaceful, labour culture. Our SEZ Act and the Industrial Parks Act will show the direction to the other states as regards Labour Reforms. Gujarat was the first state to conceive the BOT Law to promote Private Sector Investment in Infrastructure development. Our SEZ Act, BOT Act, Industrial Parks Act, Power Sector Reforms Law, Gujarat Infrastructure Development Act show our strong commitment to reforms.

Completed 632 Mtr. Berth at Mundra port. L.N.G. storage work completed at Hazira. Implementation of Scheme at the cost of Rs. 62 lacs for harvesting "Ratan Jyot" which generates Bio-diesel from seeds. Achievement of 115 % in afforestation.
